Appeal for witnesses after Melton assault
Officers are appealing for public help after a man was assaulted following a night out in Melton.
The incident took place at about 1.15am on Sunday April 26, 2009 on Nottingham Road.
As the 59-year-old victim was walking home away from the town centre and neared the junction with Clumber Street, he was suddenly hit on the head from behind. This caused him to fall to the ground and was assaulted further.
He heard one of his attackers ask him for his mobile phone and wallet although nothing was taken.
The victim attended the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment to a broken nose and swelling to his eyes.
PC Pete Starbuck, who is investigating the incident, said: "Unfortunately the victim can not recall much detail of the incident and unable to provide us with a description of his attackers so we're therefore appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or the events that led up to it to get in contact with us.
"This incident has understandably left him feeling very shaken and we're eager to track down the people responsible.
"If you recall seeing these attackers or have any information as to their identity then we'd been keen to speak with you."
