Students in an area set to benefit from a multi-million pound school revamp will be meeting County Council Leader David Parsons this week.
Loughborough and Quorn will be the first in line for £80million to refurbish and re-build schools if the government approves a bid for money from the County Council.
After recently meeting parents in the area who have been campaigning for changes to secondary education, Mr Parsons will see one of the local schools first hand this Thursday (29th January).
Mr Parsons will meet staff and pupils at Woodbrook Vale High School and also talk to the headteacher about the school's vision for the future.
If the bid for government money is successful, revamps tailored to each area's needs would follow in waves across the County. The first schools could be refurbished or re-built by 2014.
Mr Parsons said: "Our students already produce very good results but we are keen to help them reach the very top and ensuring we have the best secondary schools is a pivotal part of that.
"Parents have been asking us to look at Loughborough - we need to make the most of the opportunity to investigate the issue and I'm looking forward to meeting students and staff at Woodbrook Vale."
Secondary schools in Melton and the Vale of Belvoir are currently undergoing a £45million transformation to provIde modern facilities for pupils, increase choice and improve results.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families is due to make a decision on its Building Schools for the Future funding next month.
