Witness appeal for good Samaritan to come forward

Officers from Melton Mowbray are trying to trace a good Samaritan who intervened in an assault.

The incident happened at around 4am on Sunday, December 21 2008 in Stirling Road.

The 22-year-old victim and her friend were approached by a woman who assaulted her, grabbing her neck and hitting her on the cheek.

PC Shea Wakelin, who is investigating the incident, said: "We are trying to trace a man who saw the incident take place and intervened. If this was you, or you know who is was please get in touch. You could have information which is vital to our enquiry.

"We would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time and saw the incident take place. Maybe you were driving through? If so please get in touch."
