Information on Melton

Police are appealing for witnesses following burglaries from homes in Burton Lazars near Melton Mowbray.

These incidents both took places on Tuesday October 28 when entry was gained to houses and items were stolen.

The first incident happened between 4.30am and 7am on Tuesday October 28 on New Road when entry was gained to the garage and a number of power tools were stolen.  These items included a hammer drill, jacksaw, saw, drill set and a drill driver.  All of which added up to around £500.

The second incident took place on Child Close between 12am and 8am on Tuesday October 28 when entry was gained to the rear of the property and a number of items were stolen. These items were a Cannon digital camera, a Sigma camera lens, an LG mobile phone, a black and silver Ted Baker watch and other personal items.

PC Keith James who is investigating these incidents, said: "I am keen to talk to anybody who may have witnessed either of these burglaries taking place in the Burton Lazars area.  If you remember anything I would urge you to come forward.

"Also I would be interested in talking to anybody who have been offered some of these items in suspicious circumstances? Maybe you work in the building industry and have been offered second hand equipment? Or you know people that have bought some of these goods recently?

"If so please contact the police as soon as possible."
