Information on Melton

Police in Melton are trying to trace the owners of property recovered which they believe may have been stolen.

On June 26, 2008, local officers arrested four people on suspicion of conspiracy to handle stolen goods.

A police search led to the recovery of many items believed to be stolen and officers would like to reunite these with their owners. They are all believed to have been stolen from the Melton Mowbray and surrounding area before June 26.

The items include memory cards containing video and pictures of children playing roller hockey, children at a football match and children in a Christmas nativity play, a roof-mounted blue light, a large pipe cutter, several DVD players and satellite navigation systems, three flat screen computer monitors, a number of drills, video cam-corders and iPod Nano and three bicycles.

Officers are also looking to reunite people with property seized from the same address in February.

This includes a Wolfe belt sander, several Stihl saws, drills, laptops, digital cameras and DVD players.

DC Jenny Tattersall is appealing for anyone who may have had similar items stolen to get in touch.

She said: "We are very keen to trace the rightful owners of this property and I'd ask anyone who may have similar items stolen to contact me."

DC Tattersall can be contacted by ringing Leicestershire Constabulary on Leicester (0116) 222 2222 and, by following the prompts, keying in her identification number, 4090. Alternatively, information can be left free* and anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
