Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Shangton.
The incident happened at around 6.40pm on Thursday July 3, 2008 on B6047 Melton Road in Shangton, 20 metres south of its junction with Main Street.
It involved two vehicles, a yellow and blue Honda CBR 125 motorcycle and a grey Daihatsu Fourtrack 4x4 car.
The rider of the motorcycle, Mr Christopher Pollard (20) of East Langton was taken to the Kettering General Hospital with serious injuries where he later died.
The driver of the 4x4 car was not injured.
PC Richard Jordan, who is investigating the incident, said: "The motorcycle was traveling along Melton Road towards Market Harbourough and the 4x4 car was traveling along Melton Road towards Melton Mowbray.
"We need to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision or who saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to it."
