Officers from Melton CID are appealing for information after a man assaulted two people in the town at the weekend.
The incident happened at around 2.55am on Sunday June 1, 2008 as the two male victims aged 20 and 24, were standing on Windsor Street.
They were approached by two men and one assaulted them. The attacker also attempted to assault a third man who managed to run away.
The suspect made off after the incident towards Sherrard Street. He is described as white, aged between 25 and 30-years-old, around 6'1" and 6'5" tall and of a muscular build. He had a square face, a shaven head and was wearing a blue chequered shirt and dark trousers.
The other man has been described as white, of slim build and around 5'8" tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and brown shoes.
Both victims were taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and treated for a head injury. The 20-year-old was discharged and the other detained overnight.
Detective Constable Pete Martin, who is investigating this incident, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or knows the person responsible to please contact us.
"If you were in the Windsor Street area or know the route the attacker after the incident, please get in touch with us.
"We also believe that the suspect attempted to stop a passing taxi on Sherrard Street. We would appeal to this taxi driver to please contact us as they have vital information."
