Talented designers are being called on to design a wildlife image for Markfield Reading Garden.

The winning design will be made into a mosaic for the site, and unveiled at the launch of the garden in September.

The competition is open to everyone and is a chance for the creative and artistic to show what wildlife image they would like to see most in the Markfield Reading Garden and be part of a lasting legacy of the village. Plus, there is the chance to win a £20 prize.

Leicestershire Library Services, working with Mercenfeld Primary School and Environment and Heritage Services, received a grant from the Big Lottery Breathing Places Fund to develop the wildlife-rich Reading Garden for use by the whole community. The garden is between the school and Markfield Library.

For the competition the wildlife image could be anything:

• An insect (e.g ladybird)

• A frog

• A tree

• A wild flower

• A fox

• A hedgehog

Leicestershire libraries will be celebrating the launch of the garden with a Wild & Wonderful Open Day on Monday 15th September, where the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, Tony Kershaw will announce the winner of the competition and launch the open day.

The deadline for entries to the competition is Friday 11th July 2008.

For an entry form contact the Markfield Reading Garden Team at Markfield Library, Oakfield Avenue, Markfield, Leicestershire, LE67 9WG
