Start the summer with two days of family fun at Riverside Festival in Leicester.

With over 60 activities and performances along Leicester City’s riverside over two days there really is something for everyone. The festival takes place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June on Western Boulevard, Bede Park and along the waterside area. The fun starts at each day at 12 noon.

As well as the popular decorated boat parade on Saturday (7th), there is a puppet play, circus skills workshop and a sensory art experience for babies and toddlers (under-3s).

Wild Over Waterways (WOW) will be returning to the festival. This popular group helps children learn about waterways and water safety through lots of fun activities over the two days.

Family entertainment includes a Viking re-enactment group, and falconry display. There will also be a climbing wall and crafts workshops and activities.

Cllr Andy Connelly Cabinet lead for culture said: “Riverside Festival is a great way to start the summer festival season. I always look forward to taking my children to Riverside Festival. This event shows one of the prettiest parts of the city at its best”.

Riverside Festival 2008 has four activity areas: the river and waterside, live music, family fun, and Ride the Riverside cycling event. Full details of the Riverside Festival are available online at www.leicester.gov.uk/festivals.
