Detectives from the City Serious Crime Team are appealing for witnesses following three armed robberies.

The first incident happened at around 10.30pm on Monday April 28, 2008 at the Jet Garage on Belgrave Gate when a man wearing a balaclava entered the garage and threatened the cashier with what appeared to be a handgun demanding cash.

He made off with a quantity of cash.

He is described as black, aged in his thirties, around 5'6" tall and of slim build. He was wearing a high visibility yellow long sleeved jacket, black trousers, black gloves, and heavy looking black footwear.

The second incident happened at around 10.30pm on Tuesday April 29, 2008 at a store on Doncaster Road in Leicester when a man wearing a balaclava entered the store and threatened the cashier with what appeared to be a firearm demanding cash and alcohol.

He made off with a quantity of cash and two bottles of alcohol.

He is described as black, between 5'5" and 5'7" tall and of medium build with broad shoulders. He was wearing a yellow high visibility long sleeved jacket.

The third incident happened at around 11.45pm on Wednesday April 30, 2008 at the BP garage on the junction with Melton Road and Sandringham Avenue when a man wearing a balaclava entered the garage and threatened the cashier with what appeared to be a handgun demanding cash.

He made off with a quantity of cash and cigarettes into Sandringham Avenue.

He is described as black and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers. He was also wearing a sleeveless high visibility orange workman type jacket.

Officers investigating these incidents believe they are linked due to the similarities and are appealing to anyone who has any information to please get in touch.

Detective Sergeant David Speight, who is investigating these incidents, said: "Although none of the cashiers were physically harmed, they have been left understandably shaken.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who was in these areas at these times to think back and see if they can recall anything out of the ordinary? Do you remember seeing a man matching these descriptions? Did you see him running from the scene?

"If you have any information regarding these incidents or know the identity of this man, please contact us urgently with the smallest of details."

Anyone with any information regarding these crimes is asked to contact DS 1683 David Speight on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 1683. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
